    A Walsall cricket club believes it will soon become a top class facility for players and spectators following a £13,500 grant from the owners of a landfill site in the borough.

  • Walsall Charity Gains Cash for Warehouse

    A Walsall-based charity which renovates unwanted furniture and passes it on to needy families has won a £39,000 grant. Walsall Carpenters Shop has been given the cash as part of the landfill tax credit scheme.

  • Research into Sewage Sludge Stockpile Retention - £60,000

    Investigation into the methods of retention of stockpiled sewage sludge. Sewage sludge is produced all year but the spreading of sludge can only take place at certain times of year. Storage of sludge for recycling as fertilizer is often in an unstable stockpile leading to pollution incidents. Sponsored by Thames Waste Management, now owned by Viridor Waste Management.

    Pilot study into the recovery, recycling and reuse of Struvite (phosphate based material with some nitrate) from Waste Water. It is hoped that the recycled Struvite can be used in a range of Horticultural fertilizers rather than being landfilled. Sponsored by Thames Waste Management, now owned by Viridor Waste Management.
